Principal/ High School Teacher

Ms.Cooper is one of the founders of the academy and presently serves as a full-time teacher and the principal of MCA. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from USA in Mobile, and a Master of Arts in ESL from Carson Newman. She has taught in both the public and private sectors for over forty years and feels a strong call to Christian education. Mrs. Cooper is primarily involved with middle and high school students in teaching language arts, mathematics, and French.

Upper Elementary School Teacher

Mr. Smith has returned to education after spending several years working in industry as a Human Resources manager and product supervisor. His bachelor of science in education from the University of Tennessee, and his experience teaching includes eleven years in the Hamblen County School system where he taught grades four through six. He brings humor and a quiet sense of authority to the elementary classroom and we are pleased to have him on staff at Covenant Academy. He also serves as a member of the school board.

High School Teacher

Mr. Cooper, a graduate of Covenant Academy, holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Tennessee Technological University. Adam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his high school math and science classes. An anointed pastor and teacher, he leads by example and encourages our students spiritually as well as academically. In addition, he serves as a technical advisor, assistant principal for the school, and a member of the school board.

Primary Elementary Teacher

Monica Reyes, a graduate of Covenant Academy, began working at church in children’s ministry during high school. This is when her passion for teaching and working with children began. She received associate degrees in business and Spanish from Walter State Community College in 2011. After working as a child care provider for a couple of years, God’s calling to be an educator was strong and clear. She will soon complete her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education at Milligan College. We are please and excited to have her on staff working with our primary students.

Kindergarten Teacher

Ms. Lawson, who is obviously gifted with a genuine love for children, is serving as our primary school teacher. She holds an associate degree in psychology from Walters State Community College and is currently pursuing a degree in Childhood Education. She has been involved with teaching and training children both in church and previously at MCA as a teacher’s aide. One of her goals is to create a loving, nurturing environment rich with a variety of learning opportunities and activities that will enable her students to learn in the way that suits them best. Her peaceful, well-structure classroom is a great place for our youngest students to begin their school experience.

Lower Elementary Teacher

Mrs. Dunn a former graduate of Morristown Covenant Academy, holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Carson Newman University and certification for grades K-8. She has taught for several years in grades ranging from preschool to fifth grade. Her nurturing heart and creativity make her an excellent elementary school teacher, and we are pleased to add her to our staff. She is serving as the teacher of our lower elementary classroom.

Middle & High School Teacher

Susan Schmid was born and raised in central Florida near the Kennedy Space Center on the east coast. In 1987, she graduated with a degree in Special Education from Carson-Newman University. After graduation, she made her home in Morristown and began teaching middle and high school classes at Morristown Covenant Academy. In addition to being called to teach Susan has a calling to missions. To date, she has lived as a missionary in New York city, Russia, London, and South Africa. In 1998, she received her master degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Carson-Newman. Because of the great variety of academic interest she has, Susan has taught a wide variety of subjects at the middle and high school levels, as well as some university courses.

Assistant Director

Ms. Lara has been part of the Morristown Covenant Academy family for three years now. She will be serving as the assistant director of the ELC as well as teaching some classes in the day school. She has an associates degree from King University and is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Because she is such a gifted individual, we count ourselves blessed to have her investing her many talents, her energy, and her vibrant spiritual life into the lives of our students.

Pre-K 3 Teacher

Ms. Hodge is a native East Tennessean who attended Cherokee High School and Walters State Community College pursuing a degree in social work. When she began raising a family, her interest shifted to caring for and teaching young children. She has invested years in ministry to children at church and in other arenas. She has taught both in the day school and the ELC. She is presently the teacher of our three-year-old class in the ELC.

Ms. Hotz is a graduate of Covenant Academy and holds a Bachelor of Science from ETSU with a minor in Early Childhood Education. She comes to us with a wealth of experience from working in the business world and as a teacher in another private Christian School. MCA is indeed blessed to have her as an instructor for our very youngest students. Her gentle and caring nature makes her a perfect fit for the position she fills.
